Guidance on the reform program
of the higher education system - LEADHER UNESCO

The UNESCO International Association of Universities (IAU) project "Leadership for Higher Education System Reform" (LEADHER) creates opportunities for learning, partnership and cooperation between IAU member organizations. It provides an opportunity to strengthen education worldwide by facilitating the exchange of information between members of the association.

The National Aerospace University, Kharkiv Aviation Institute (Ukraine) and the University of Uyo (Nigeria) have developed a project dedicated to the training of scientific personnel and, in particular, innovative doctoral programs. Given the current situation in both countries, these two institutions faced serious difficulties when trying to implement a joint project, including a complicated visa process, plane crashes, and the Ebola virus epidemic. However, as part of the program, the parties organized at least two study visits to Nigeria.

The main tasks of the project were:

- promotion of internationalization of higher education in the field of technology;

- exchange of knowledge and experience in order to increase the educational potential of universities;

- strengthening of relations between Ukraine and Nigeria;

As the main results, the partners reported that:

- both institutions are ready to launch the 2 + 2 program for masters and bachelors;

- they are discussing the creation of a branch of Khai in UniUyo;

- KhAI is ready to offer online tools for distance summer and winter schools for students from UniUyo.
