Мета проекту ALCAS – знизити витрати на експлуатацію авіаційної техніки в Європі на 15% за рахунок ефективного використання композиційних матеріалів з вуглецевого волокна для створення силових авіаційних конструкцій, беручи до уваги інтегральність систем. В проекті були розроблені нові методи та концепції проектування, які дозволили повністю використовувати потенціал композиційних матеріалів, а також нові процеси виробництва та складання.
