Postgraduate studies at the University were established in 1930, and doctoral studies in 1962. During the period of their operation, more than 1,100 Candidates of Sciences (PhD equivalents) and 105 Doctors of Sciences have been trained, including renowned scholars in the fields of physical and mathematical sciences, engineering, history, and philosophy.
Postgraduate studies provide training for academic and research professionals with and without interruption from employment, while doctoral studies are conducted with full-time dedication.
Training in postgraduate and doctoral programs is funded through:
1. State Budget of Ukraine — under a state contract for employment in the public sector of the national economy;
2. Funds of legal entities and individuals — on a contractual basis — for employment in both public and private sectors of the national economy;
3. Foreign citizens and stateless persons, on the basis of:
- international agreements of Ukraine;
- national programs;
- contracts concluded by the University with legal entities and individuals.
Specialized academic councils for the defense of Candidate’s and Doctoral dissertations operate at Kharkiv Aviation Institute (KhAI).
