In September 2015, all 193 member states of the United Nations adopted a plan to achieve a better shared future. Over the following 15 years, joint efforts are focused on eradicating extreme poverty, tackling inequality and injustice, and protecting our planet. At the heart of the "2030 Agenda" are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which clearly define the world we want for all nations without exception. The new Global Goals are the result of a process that was more inclusive than ever: governments engaged businesses, civil society, and local communities. We all share a common vision for where the world should head. Achieving these ambitions requires unprecedented efforts from all sectors of society—and business has a crucial role to play in this process.
