National Aerospace University «Kharkiv Aviation Institute»

Riga Technical University

Cooperation between the National Aerospace University "KhAI" and Riga Technical University (RTU) is a strategic partnership that unites two powerful centers of technical education in Eastern Europe and the Baltics.

RTU is the oldest technical university in Latvia and is included in prestigious world rankings (QS World University Rankings).

Riga Technical University is a modern research center that actively cooperates with international space agencies and European industrial giants.

Study Models:

"3+1" Scheme (Bachelor's Degree): Students complete three years of study at KhAI, and the fourth year (including the diploma defense) is spent in Riga.

"1+1" Scheme (Master's Degree): The first year is in Kharkiv, and the second year is in Riga. The Master's thesis is prepared under the joint supervision of Ukrainian and Latvian professors.

Semester Mobility: Study for 1-2 semesters without the mandatory requirement of receiving a second degree, but with full recognition of credits.

Priority Specializations:

Aviation Transport: Technical operation of aircraft and aviation engineering.

Telecommunications and Radio Electronics: Navigation and communication systems.

Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics: Robotics and automation of production processes.

Economics and Management: Logistics and supply chain management in aviation.

Features of Studying at RTU:

RTU Science and Innovation Centre: Students have access to the Design Factory — a prototyping laboratory where they can implement their own engineering ideas.

English-taught programs: Instruction for international students is conducted exclusively in English within international groups.

Practice in the Baltics: Opportunity for internships at enterprises in the Latvian aviation sector (e.g., airBaltic Training).

Financial Conditions:

Erasmus+ KA1: Most exchanges are covered by EU grants, which provide a stipend (approximately 800 euros/month) and travel cost compensation.

Latvian State Scholarships: KhAI students are eligible to apply for special Latvian government scholarships for Ukrainian students and researchers.

Benefits for Students:

Certification according to EASA standards: RTU provides education that meets European aviation safety requirements, which is a significant bonus for future engineers.

European-standard Diploma: Graduates receive a diploma that is automatically recognized in all EU countries and beyond.

Adaptation: Latvia is very comfortable for Ukrainian students due to the absence of a significant language barrier in daily life and similar mentalities.

Selection Criteria:

Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0 (or 75+ on a 100-point scale).

English language proficiency level B2 (confirmed by a certificate or an interview at KhAI).
