Law Enforcement Activity is an applied jurisprudence and security field aimed at ensuring public safety and order, protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, preventing, detecting, and countering crime, as well as providing policing and public service operations.

Unlike traditional "Law" (K1), where the focus is shifted toward court proceedings, rulemaking, and civil law relations, specialty K9 is oriented toward practical and operational service activities: applying forensic and specialized technology, conducting operational-search activities (OSA), countering cyber threats, terrorism, organized crime, and safeguarding state sovereignty.

The training of specialists in law enforcement activity is built around the following key focus areas:

- legislation and standards: regulatory legal acts of Ukraine, international human rights standards, criminal and criminal procedure law, administrative liability;

- operational-search activities (OSA) and specialized equipment: procedures for utilizing operational assets, information search systems, special and operational databases (ERDR, wanted registries);

- countering threats and crime: combating organized crime groups (OCGs), illegal paramilitary formations, illegal migration, terrorism, and cybercrime;

- public safety and partnership: maintaining order during mass events, delivering policing services, preventive work, and community engagement based on Community Policing principles;

- anti-corruption activities and cyber defense: preventing corruption offenses, protecting state information resources and infrastructure.

Educational goals by higher education levels:

First (Bachelor's) level — training specialists capable of solving complex specialized tasks and practical problems in law enforcement, public order preservation, and crime prevention under conditions of uncertainty.

Main focuses of Bachelor's degree training:

- mastering tactical-specialized, firearms, physical, and forensic training;

- studying substantive and procedural law, procedural algorithms for detecting and documenting offenses;

- skills in applying special equipment, weapons, coercive measures, and specialized gear;

- organizing patrol operations, call response, pre-trial investigation of minor offenses and administrative violations.

Second (Master's) level — training managerial staff, leading specialists, analysts, and researchers capable of identifying and solving complex law enforcement problems, conducting research, and driving innovation under conditions of uncertain requirements.

Main focuses of Master's degree training:

- strategic management of law enforcement units and crime situation analysis (Crime Analysis / Intelligence-Led Policing);

- organizing and coordinating interagency special operations to neutralize OCGs, counter terrorism, and mitigate cyberattacks;

- implementing innovative Digital Forensics technologies and Big Data analysis in law enforcement;

- scientific research activities, formulating recommendations to improve anti-corruption and security legislation.

Key graduate competencies:

- Operational-Search Activity — conducting OSA, utilizing specialized and operational-technical equipment, searching databases for information;

- Ensuring Public Safety — tactics in emergency situations, maintaining order during mass events, preventive policing;

- Forensics and Investigation — identifying, preserving, and collecting evidence, applying digital and classical forensic methods;

- Cybersecurity and Data Protection — detecting cybercrimes, analyzing digital footprints, protecting critical information infrastructure;

- Anti-Corruption and Partnership — preventing corruption, protecting human rights, implementing Community Policing principles.

Graduates of Specialty K9 Law Enforcement Activity are prepared for service in state security structures, law enforcement agencies, and the private security sector:

- National Police of Ukraine: community police officers, operational officers, investigators/inquirers, specialists in patrol police, special task police units, cyber police, and criminal investigation;

- specialized anti-corruption and investigative bodies: National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), Bureau of Economic Security (BES);

- security and defense sector: Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), State Border Guard Service (SBGS), National Guard of Ukraine (NGU);

- state penitentiary and customs services: inspectors and operational officers of justice bodies, customs, and tax services;

- private security sector: managers and specialists in corporate security departments, detective agencies, cash-in-transit services, and security companies;

- science and education (for Master's degree holders): analysts in security R&D centers, lecturers, and researchers in higher education institutions with specific training conditions (academies and institutes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs / Security Service).

Training is provided by the Department of Law (Department 702).
