The objective of the "DENOX" project is to develop and experimentally validate two innovative technological concepts and their optimal combination for the radical reduction of NOx emissions in aviation gas turbine engines (GTE): electrochemical suppression of NOx formation in the primary combustion zone and electromagnetic decomposition of NOx molecules in the engine exhaust. These concepts are based on the results of theoretical and numerical studies of low-emission combustion processes at high temperature and high pressure. These studies have demonstrated that the proposed concepts have the potential to reduce NOx concentration in exhaust gases by 20-95% without loss of engine efficiency. The DENOX project is part of the Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking.
