The Scientific School of Hryhoriy Krasovsky

General characteristics of the scientific school

The Scientific School of Hryhoriy Yakovych Krasovsky is an established scientific direction in the field of studying the Earth's surface using aerospace survey data, based on many years of research and teaching activities of the Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, laureate of the State Prize in Science and Technology, Honored Worker of the Space Industry of Ukraine, H. Ya. Krasovsky. The activities of the scientific school are aimed at conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of information technologies for supporting and making decisions on environmental protection, ecological safety, rational use of renewable natural resources, planning measures to prevent and eliminate emergencies, in which modern computer systems for processing geospatial data and materials for remote sensing of the Earth from space are widely used.

Founder of the scientific school

Krasovsky Hryhoriy Yakovych (born August 6, 1946, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian scientist, radio physicist. Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1974), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1992), Professor (2001), laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (2013), founder and first head of the Department of Geoinformation Technologies and Space Monitoring of the Earth of the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" (2016-2018). At the same time, he received awards from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine "For personal significant contribution to the development of science and education", was the winner of the XVI regional competition "Higher School of Kharkiv Region - the Best Names" in the "Scientist" nomination (2014).

In addition to his scientific and pedagogical activities at Khai University, he headed the laboratory of space monitoring of surface waters of the Ukrainian Scientific Center for Water Protection (Kharkiv, 1975–1997), was the director of the North-Eastern branch of the State Scientific and Production Center "Pryroda" (Kharkiv, 1997–2001), the chief researcher of the Ukrainian Institute for Environmental and Resources Research under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (Kyiv, 2001–2008), the chief researcher of the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, 2002-2018), and the director of LLC "NPF EKODAN" (Kharkiv, 2000-2018).

The main scientific areas of the school are:

1. Space monitoring of the environment using geoinformation technologies.

2. Creation of geomodels in the tasks of ecological and economic assessments of lands.

3. Development of 3D models of terrain objects based on laser scanning data processing.

4. Collection, processing and thematic interpretation of data from UAVs.

5. Creation of cartographic and anamorphic models based on the analysis of stochastic discrete information.

Scientific achievements and results of activities

Under the scientific supervision of G. Ya. Krasovsky, 11 candidate and 1 doctor of philosophy theses in the field of technical sciences were defended, a large number of bachelor's and master's degrees were defended. Representatives of the scientific school take an active part in normative, expert and advisory activities at the national and regional levels.

Disciples

Hryhoriy Yakovych was the scientific supervisor of the diploma and later the dissertation work of Greben Oleksandr Serhiyovych, who now holds the position of head of the department "Geoinformation technologies and space monitoring of the Earth". Currently, the scientific school of the department is headed by Professor Olga Stanislavivna Butenko, who trained Candidate of Technical Sciences S. I. Gorelyk, who headed the department after the sudden death of Hryhoriy Yakovych Krasovsky and currently works as an associate professor of the department. At the same time, the associate professor of the department, Ph.D. S. Andreyev trained Candidate of Technical Sciences A. S. Nechausov, who currently works as an associate professor of the department. The scientific school of the department also includes Dr. of Technical Sciences, Prof. R. E. Pashchenko, Dr. of Technical Sciences, Prof. S. Yu. Danshina and Ph.D., senior research fellow. Inessa Hryhorivna Krasovska, who is the ideological successor of the scientific traditions and high standards of education established by her father, G. Ya.
