State Enterprise "Yuzhnoye Design Office named after M.K. Yangel" is one of the world's most famous and recognized scientific and design enterprises in the development of rocket and space technology. This authority is based on a unique experience in creating rocket and space equipment accumulated over more than 60 years of the enterprise's existence, and is supported by the ability to evolve in modern economic and political realities while flexibly responding to the needs of the global space market.
Through the efforts of the Yuzhnoye Design Office team and partner organizations, nine types of space launch vehicles have been created, using which nearly 500 launches have been carried out and more than 1,100 spacecraft have been placed into orbit.
Yuzhnoye Design Office boasts a large number of successful space transportation system developments, many of which have achieved world-class standing. These include, for example, the creation of the environmentally friendly "Zenit" space launch system, characterized by high reliability, complete automation of launch vehicle preparation and launch, and high precision in inserting spacecraft into orbit.
At present, international cooperation plays an increasingly important role in the implementation of space and rocket projects. Thus, Yuzhnoye Design Office participates in the operation of the American medium-class launch vehicle "Antares" for cargo delivery to the International Space Station and in the development of the "Cyclone-4M" launch vehicle designed for launching spacecraft from Canadian territory.
Based on proven technologies of the "Zenit" and "Cyclone" family launch vehicles, the Yuzhnoye Design Office team is creating a new promising family of launch vehicles called "Mayak".
