In 1964, Yu. Krashanytsia entered the aircraft engineering faculty of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute. In 1970, having graduated with honors from KhAI, he received the qualification of a mechanical engineer, began active production and scientific activity in the field of creating energy support for an aerodynamic complex based on the T-6 supersonic wind tunnel as an engineer of the Department of Aerohydrodynamics and Flight Dynamics of KhAI.
At the same time, he studied at the evening department of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Kharkiv State University named after M. Gorky (1970–1974), where he attended lectures and studied with prominent scientists such as professors N. Akhiyezer, V. Petrenko, V. Marchenko, Yu. Gandel. In 1972–1975, Yu. Krashanytsia was a postgraduate student at the Department of Aerohydrodynamics and Flight Dynamics of KhAI. In 1976, he defended his dissertation on the topic "Determination of nonlinear aerodynamic characteristics of a finite-span wing with mechanization near the interface by the method of boundary integral equations" in the specialized academic council of the Kyiv State University named after T. Shevchenko, after which he was appointed to the position of senior engineer of the Department of Aerohydrodynamics and Flight Dynamics of the KhAI Institute of Aeronautics. In 1977, he received the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. At this time, he carried out a complex of research works according to the plans of the branch state-budget scientific research laboratory of aerodynamics, implementing the results obtained at aviation enterprises and specialized organizations of the USSR.
In 1976, he accepted an invitation to the position of assistant (1976–1977), then senior lecturer (1978–1981) of the Department of Fundamentals of Higher Mathematics of the KhAI Institute of Aeronautics. Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Mathematics (1981–1990). He actively participated in All-Union, republican and institute scientific conferences and seminars on boundary value problems of mathematical physics, mechanics of liquids and gases. At that time, on his initiative, the publication of the republican scientific collection of works “Mathematical Methods of Analysis of Dynamical Systems” was started (1977–1985).
Krashanytsia Yu. has a considerable merit in the organization and formation of the Physics and Mathematics School (FMS) of KhAI. He was engaged in the formation and creation of methodological support for the educational process, selected a team of teachers from the mathematics cycle and personally taught and explained the most problematic issues of general mathematics.
In 1996, Yu. Krashanytsia defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences on the topic "The Method of Boundary Integral Equations in Nonlinear Problems of Fluid, Gas and Plasma Mechanics". Doctor of Technical Sciences in the specialty of Fluid, Gas and Plasma Mechanics (1997). He was twice elected Head of the Department of Fundamentals of Higher Mathematics by competition (1990–1998). Since 1998, he has been a professor of this department.
For several years, he headed the section "Mathematics" of the Kharkiv Regional Branch of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1996–1999), gave a series of lectures on problematic issues of elementary mathematics, supervised the organization and holding of Olympiads for gifted schoolchildren of the city of Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, and conducted classes in Kharkiv lyceums and gymnasiums.
From 2000 to 2008, Yu. Krashanytsia was the head of the Department of Aerohydrodynamics and the scientific director of the National Scientific Heritage of Ukraine object based on the T-6 supersonic wind tunnel of the M. E. Zhukovsky National Aerospace University "KhAI". For many years of work and significant contribution to the training of personnel for the aerospace complex of Ukraine, including highly qualified personnel, Yu. Krashanytsia was awarded the honorary title "Excellent Educationist of Ukraine", performs the duties of the scientific secretary and member of the specialized Academic Council for awarding the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences (2000-2019), an expert of UkrINTEI in thematic area No. 14 "Problems of Innovative Development of Transport Systems" (2006). In 2000, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Yuriy Krashanytsia - Head of the Department of Aerohydrodynamics headed the scientific school "Mathematical Problems of Fluid and Gas Mechanics". Under his leadership, students, graduate students and specialists of the department performed a large number of aerodynamic, hydrodynamic and aeroacoustic studies that are used in existing practical problems of aerodynamics of aircraft and their parts, as well as in technological processes. Yu. Krashanytsia is the author of four monographs and over 200 scientific publications, 15 educational publications, has copyright certificates for inventions in the field of aerospace technology, as well as copyrights for software products and a declarative patent for a utility model. Under the scientific leadership of Professor Yu. Krashanytsia, seven candidates and a Doctor of Technical Sciences were trained.
The scientific results of Yu. Krashanytsia became the subjects of discussions at well-known specialized seminars at the Research Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University under the leadership of Academician G. Petrov, the Academy named after M. E. Zhukovsky under the leadership of Professor S. Bilotserkovsky, the Central Institute of Hydrodynamics named after M. E. Zhukovsky (Moscow), the Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and were reported at many scientific forums such as the YI All-Union Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (1986, Tashkent), the X All-Russian Congress on Fundamental Problems of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (2011, Nizhny Novgorod) and many others, both domestic and foreign.
The practical implementation of the results and scientific positions of Professor Yu. Krashanytsia was reflected in the cycle of works on the creation of the Ukrainian aerospace system "Sura". With his participation, a large-scale analysis of the parameters of a reusable glider and the connection of two gliders was performed, typical trajectories of the launch and descent of an orbital aircraft were determined, and the level of aerodynamic parameters and maximum heat fluxes on critical sections of the trajectory were assessed. Under his leadership, software and methodological support were developed and experimental studies were conducted to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of the modern Sapsan missile complex, the creation of which was entrusted to the National Space Agency of Ukraine and the State Design Bureau of Yuzhnoye. For his active scientific and pedagogical activities, he was awarded the Honorary Diploma "For Scientific Achievements" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2007).
Professor Yu. Krashanytsia pays significant attention to the development and strengthening of business and scientific creative ties not only with specialized departments of higher educational institutions of Ukraine and abroad, but also with leading industrial enterprises of the aerospace sector, as well as with organizations working in the field of transport technologies and systems.
As for current educational activities, this is support for educational processes in the preparation of masters in specialty 131 "Applied Mechanics" in the discipline "Numerical Methods of Mechanics of Continuums" and postgraduate students in specialty 134 "Aviation and Rocket and Space Engineering" in the discipline "Aerodynamics of Aerospace Engineering Objects". Separately, it should be noted the series of lectures on the fundamentals of fluid and gas mechanics, aerohydrodynamics and gas dynamics of aircraft, launched on the personal initiative of Professor Yu. Krashaanytsya within the framework of the current scientific and methodological seminar of the department with the aim of significantly improving the qualifications of young teachers and scientists.
