These summer days, the team of aircraft modelers from the Laboratory of Technical Creativity of KhAI students is participating in the stages of the World Cup in corded aircraft model sports - Polish and Lithuanian, which are held in Wierzhavytsia (Poland).
The team includes the head of the KhAI aircraft model laboratory Oleksiy IGOSHIN, the leading engineer of KhAI Yuriy YATSENKO, as well as athletes Mykola TKACHUK and Stanislav DZIUBA. In the F2C class, Oleksiy IGOSHIN performs together with Khai graduate Yuriy CHAYKA, and in the F2B class, the KhAI team is represented by Yuriy YATSENKO, Mykola TKACHUK and Stanislav DZIUBA.
Despite the difficult conditions of wartime, the team completed the main volume of training. In the winter period, training was held in the KhAI arena, where, thanks to the support of the university rector, the aircraft modelers were able to practice regularly. With the onset of the warm season, the training was moved to the Kharkiv airfield.
All athletes are performing on new models manufactured in 2026. A significant part of the work was carried out directly in the aircraft model laboratory of KhAI using modern equipment and technologies.
One of the most interesting novelties was Yuriy YATSENKO's model with a new fuselage, created on the basis of a mold manufactured on a CNC machine. Model design, equipment development and mold manufacturing were carried out in the laboratory with the participation of athletes and young students.
The Laboratory of Technical Creativity of KhAI Students hopes for a successful performance of the team and a worthy representation of the university and Ukraine on the international arena. During the competition, prompt coverage of the results and the course of the starts is planned.
