Webinar “Be Original: How Does the “Hygiene” of a Scientific Text Work?”

KhAI Institute is holding Academic Integrity Week, an event that creates an environment of trust, responsibility, and honesty in the university community.

An important webinar “Be Original: How Does the “Hygiene” of a Scientific Text Work?” was held as part of the Week, dedicated to modern plagiarism checking tools and the culture of academic writing.

The speaker of the event was Olena KOROBKINA, Director of the Scientific Library of the G.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.

During the meeting, the participants not only got acquainted with the technical aspects of text checking, but also gained a deeper understanding that academic integrity is the basis of high-quality science and respect for intellectual work.

The focus was on:

- the operation of the StrikePlagiarism system and the principles of analyzing scientific texts;

- the difference between the concepts of “similarity” and “plagiarism”;

- features of interpreting citations, references, and technical matches;

- practical advice on the correct formatting of sources and citations.

Special attention was paid to how to avoid typical mistakes when preparing scientific papers and how to work competently with reports of anti-plagiarism systems.

A modern scientist must not only create new knowledge, but also be able to work responsibly with information, adhering to the principles of honesty, transparency and professional ethics.

We sincerely thank Elena Gennadiyevna for the meaningful dialogue, practical recommendations and support for the development of a culture of academic integrity in the student and scientific environment of KhAI!
