The KhAI dormitories have become a real home for people forced to leave their homes because of the war.
Here live displaced people from the scorched borderlands - families with children, the elderly, those who have lost their familiar world and are trying to put themselves together again. What once seemed like a temporary shelter has become their life for years - with their own little joys, habits and daily struggle for inner balance.
At one time, a playground was set up in the yard to at least give the children a little bit of a sense of normal childhood. But over time, another, very human desire appeared - to have a place where you can just sit next to each other, talk or even be silent together. This is especially needed by the elderly, for whom communication often becomes the only support in the new reality.
And recently, a gazebo appeared in the yard, purchased with grant funds from the International Organization for Migration. It is small and simple, but immediately filled with life - conversations, meetings, presence.
Nearby - volunteers, hot tea, homemade pastries, children's laughter and sincere care. In these simple things, an atmosphere of warmth is born, which cannot replace losses, but helps to survive them.
Of course, no one will ever replace your home - the one that returns in dreams, which you think about every day and which you want to return to more than anything. But doing everything possible to ease the pain, support those who are nearby, help children remain children, and adults - not lose support - is more than just help.
This is a responsibility that unites.
This is humanity that holds.
And this is the silent but real duty of each of us - to be there when it is needed most.
