Last nights of summer and star landmarks: what to look for in the sky on August 30?
On the calendar, August 30 is the border between summer and the start of a new academic semester. While lectures, practical classes and course projects are just ahead, it's time to raise your head up, because the late August sky is one of the most spectacular of the year.
Tonight, you should pay attention to the star triangle. Throughout the night, the Summer-Autumn Triangle, formed by the three brightest stars: Vega (constellation Lyra), Deneb (Cygnus) and Altair (Aquila), will shine brightly high above your head. Bright planets are also worth paying attention to: immediately after sunset, Saturn will rise in the east, and closer to dawn, Jupiter. And, of course, the "highlight" that you definitely need to see is the Milky Way. At the end of August, the strip of our Galaxy is especially clearly visible in the dark suburban sky - just along the Cygnus line.
