We recently reported that Igor EVARNYTSKY, the head of the climbing section of KhAI, a senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Rehabilitation, went to Alaska, where he planned to climb Denali, the highest peak in North America.
Today we are sharing unique photos and a story directly from the expedition.
Unfortunately, Igor EVARNYTSKY's group did not manage to reach the summit. The climbers spent two days in the penultimate camp, waiting for the end of heavy snowfall. They constantly had to dig the tent out of the snow, and the temperature inside it dropped to −15 °C.
Later, due to the health of one of the expedition participants, a difficult but correct decision was made to stop the climb and start the descent.
Such decisions in the mountains are a manifestation of responsibility and professionalism, because safety always remains the highest priority.
Despite this, the expedition also has its victory. Another group of climbers, who worked on the route, successfully reached the top of Denali and raised the KhAI flag there.
