The KhAI flag has reached Alaska!
The first photos were sent by the head of the KhAI climbing section, senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Education, Sports and Rehabilitation Igor EVARNYTSKY, who started a new mountain expedition.
Ahead is an attempt to climb Denali (6190 m) - the highest peak in North America. This is one of the most difficult mountains in the world: even in summer, the temperature at the summit can drop below −30 °C, and due to the high latitude, the air here contains less oxygen than on peaks of the same height closer to the equator.
The expedition will last about two to three weeks. Participants independently transport equipment on sleds, carry heavy backpacks, undergo long acclimatization and depend on weather conditions, which often determine the success of the climb.
Currently, Igor EVARNYTSKY is sending greetings from Alaska to everyone at KhAI, and we wish him a safe expedition, good weather, and the achievement of his main goal.
We are waiting for news from the route and hope to soon see the KhAI flag on the highest peak in North America.
