The National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" hosted a symposium of the Council of Young Scientists at the KhOVA "Young Scientist: Motivation, Opportunities, Influence".
Young scientists, representatives of the university community and government bodies joined the discussion. The event was attended by the rector of KhAI Oleksii Lytvynov and the chief specialist of the Department of Science, Higher and Professional Education Natalia Sukhorukova.
The rector of the university delivered a welcoming speech and took part in an open discussion "What motivates a young scientist to stay in science?". The conversation was honest, lively and very important, because today Ukrainian science is going through one of the most difficult periods in its history.
During the symposium, participants discussed the issues of motivating young scientists in times of war and instability, involvement in the defense of candidate and doctoral theses, barriers to professional growth in the academic environment, support for publication activity, and opportunities for publications in Scopus and Web of Science.
Special attention was paid to the problem of the outflow of young scientists abroad, the development of interuniversity cooperation of young scientists' councils, grant opportunities for researchers, commercialization of scientific results, and interaction between science and business.
Participants also spoke about the role of young scientists in the strategic development of universities and how to make science prestigious for the new generation.
Today, it is especially important to create an environment in which a young scientist not only has the opportunity to develop, but also feels that his voice is important and his ideas can influence the future of the country.
