On June 23, the Department of Aircraft Control Systems (301) of KhAI successfully defended the thesis of graduate student Vladyslav BILOZERSKYI for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in specialty 151 "Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies".
Vladyslav completed his entire educational path at KhAI - from Bachelor to Doctor of Philosophy. During his studies, he demonstrated high academic results, was a scholarship holder of the Scholarship of the President of Ukraine, and actively participated in the work of the admissions committee of the faculty and the scientific life of the department.
The topic of the dissertation - "Methods and means of pre-processing video data in the complex of UAV guidance tasks" - is dedicated to one of the most relevant areas of modern unmanned aviation: increasing the efficiency of technical vision systems that provide guidance of unmanned aerial vehicles.
As part of the research, the author developed new methods of pre-processing video data, which improve the quality of target detection and tracking systems, in particular in conditions of complex optical-photometric interference. An improved method of stabilizing the brightness of the video stream in real time and a model of adaptive tracking of objects are also proposed.
The scientific results have already been implemented in practice. They have been published in leading professional publications, in particular in the journals Radioelectronic and Computer Systems and "Problems of Control and Informatics", as well as presented at international conferences IEEE (KhPI Week, DESSERT) and in the Springer publication.
The scientific supervisor of the dissertation work was Kostyantyn DERGACHOV, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher, Head of the Department of Aircraft Control Systems.
A one-time specialized scientific council, consisting of five doctors and candidates of sciences, highly appreciated the results of the research and unanimously decided to award Vladislav BILOZERSKYI the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 15 "Automation and Instrumentation".
