The Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies of KhAI (No. 503) successfully defended the dissertation of Yevhen KANARSKYI for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in specialty 123 "Computer Engineering".
The topic of the dissertation is "Methods for assessing the quality of human-machine interfaces based on augmented reality for unmanned systems for monitoring potentially dangerous areas".
Scientific supervisor is Professor of Department 503, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Oleksandr OREKHOV.
In the dissertation work, a set-theoretic model and architecture of a system for monitoring potentially dangerous areas using human-machine interaction interfaces based on augmented reality were developed. The method for assessing the quality of such interfaces was improved by forming a requirements profile, applying appropriate heuristics, expert evaluation of metrics, and determining an integrated quality indicator that increases the reliability of the assessment.
A method for assessing the readiness of monitoring systems based on Markov models has also been proposed, which takes into account the reactivity and accuracy of operator actions, partial failures, and the availability of backup unmanned aerial vehicles, which makes it possible to analyze the influence of parameters and justify their choice.
In addition, an information technology and software tool have been developed for evaluating and selecting parameters of human-machine interaction interfaces for monitoring systems.
According to the results of an open vote, all five members of the one-time specialized academic council unanimously supported awarding Yevhen KANARSKYI the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Official opponents and reviewers representing KhAI, KhPI, and KAI noted the high level of scientific novelty, the validity of the results obtained, and the practical significance of the study. It is important that the results of the dissertation have already been implemented in the projects of the department, in the educational process during the teaching of courses on the development of modern human-machine systems and intelligent interfaces, as well as in the activities of organizations engaged in environmental monitoring.
Yevhen KANARSKYI has completed the June series of defenses with dignity, becoming the fifth Doctor of Philosophy of the Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies to successfully defend his dissertation.
