The Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies of KhAI (No. 503) successfully defended the dissertation of Alexei NERETIN for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in specialty 125 "Cybersecurity".
The topic of the dissertation research is "Methods and tools for analyzing cybersecurity and protecting large language models from generating prohibited content on local and cloud servers".
The work develops a cybersecurity model for large language models, which provides a theoretical-multiple representation of threats, vulnerabilities and cyberattacks at the model and system levels. The method for analyzing the criticality of vulnerabilities of large language models has also been improved, and the IMECA method for assessing and ensuring cybersecurity of large language models has been further developed through the analysis of the consequences of attacks on vulnerabilities and the selection of effective countermeasures.
The dissertation research is the first work in the field of security of systems based on large language models. Its results have already been implemented in the educational process of KhAI within the framework of the elective discipline “Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Bases”, prepared jointly with Artem ABAKUMOV. The course is popular among students of various faculties of the university. In addition, the results of the study have been implemented in research projects of KhAI and in industry.
The scientific supervisor of the work is Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vyacheslav KHARCHENKO.
The official opponents – leading scientists of KhAI, as well as Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil universities – noted the high level of scientific novelty, the validity of the obtained results and the relevance of the developed methods for ensuring the security of large language models operating both on local and cloud servers.
We congratulate Oleksiy NERETIN on the successful defense of his dissertation and wish him further scientific achievements!
