The Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies of KhAI (No. 503) successfully defended the dissertation of Artem ABAKUMOV for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in specialty 125 "Cybersecurity".
The topic of the dissertation is "Methods and tools of combined intrusion analysis and penetration testing to ensure cybersecurity of unmanned aircraft systems".
The study is devoted to the current issues of protecting unmanned aircraft systems from modern cyber threats. The work first proposes a combined method of cybersecurity analysis, which combines analytical and experimental procedures for analyzing vulnerabilities and intrusions. This approach allows to increase the completeness and reliability of assessing the level of system security.
In addition, the method of quantitative assessment of cybersecurity and readiness based on Markov models, taking into account the duration and periodicity of penetration testing, as well as the risk-oriented method of a posteriori analysis of intrusion regimes for a well-founded choice of effective countermeasures, has been improved. As part of the research, a software tool and elements of information technology for combined intrusion analysis have also been developed. The results of the work have already been implemented in the educational process, research activities and practice of enterprises in the industry.
The scientific supervisor of the dissertation is Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Vyacheslav KHARCHENKO.
According to the results of an open vote, all five members of the one-time specialized academic council — leading scientists of KhAI, Khmelnytskyi National University and Western Ukrainian National University — unanimously supported awarding Artem ABAKUMOV the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
