Seminar on reliable information technologies

Seminar on reliable information technologies

For the seventh year in a row, the Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies (No. 503) has been hosting a weekly postgraduate seminar GIT (Guaranteed Information Technologies). The concept of “Postgraduate Hour” has already become firmly established in the university environment — every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, young scientists gather to discuss the most current trends in the IT industry.

The mission of the seminar is to create a platform for “horizontal” communications, where postgraduate students from Kharkiv Institute of Information Technology and other universities can freely discuss hypotheses, share research results, and test their ideas. Today, GIT has gone far beyond the department, uniting students, teachers, and researchers not only from Ukraine but also from abroad.

The last session of the seminar became truly international. The keynote speaker was Philippos PAPALOS, a representative of the Laboratory of Informatics and Cybersecurity of the Hellenic Military Academy (Athens). His participation was a logical continuation of the long-term cooperation of Department 503 with Professor Nikolaos BARDIS, who is a long-time friend of KhAI and co-chair of the international conference DESSERT together with Professor Vyacheslav Kharchenko.

Philippos presented the results of the work on the topic “Building a Federated Intrusion Detection Model: A Novel Approach and Challenges”. The report at the intersection of network security and artificial intelligence caused a lively discussion and was highly appreciated by the attendees.

No less relevant was the report of KhAI PhD student Bohdan KOSAREVSKY (scientific supervisor - Associate Professor Artem TETSKIY). He presented research in the field of developing methods and architectural solutions for the deployment of a reliable IT infrastructure for intelligent unmanned systems.

The GIT seminar is an important part of the holistic research support system at KhAI, which also includes:

- PERSIK and SKIFIK student conferences;

- Monthly seminar "Critical Computer Technologies and Systems" (KryKTechS);

- International conference DESSERT.

We sincerely invite graduate students from all departments of KhAI to join the seminar! This is a great opportunity to test your scientific results in a circle of like-minded people and get useful advice from colleagues.
