On April 10, a landmark event took place in the safe space of Khai - the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Roundtable "Bioethical Anthropology: The Basis of the Professional Culture of Aerospace Engineering". The event was dedicated to the Day of Workers of the Rocket and Space Industry of Ukraine and the International Day of Human Space Flight.
The event brought together more than 40 participants in a mixed format (offline and online), including young scientists, researchers, practitioners and students. Representatives of leading institutions of Ukraine joined the discussion:
- National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute";
- V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University;
- Kharkiv State Scientific Library named after V. G. Korolenko;
- Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University;
- Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University;
- Institute of Problems of Contemporary Art of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).
The Vice-Rector for Research Svitlana DOMBROVSKA and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Law Iryna TUR addressed the attendees with welcoming remarks, noting the importance of forming the professional culture of future engineers.
The program of the event covered a wide range of topical philosophical and ethical issues:
1. The Ethos of the Engineer and AI: Analysis of the moral status of an engineering decision as an act that affects the safety of life, as well as the conflict between human subjectivity and artificial intelligence.
2. Anthropological Boundaries of Homo Aerospace: Reflection of digital and cosmic corporeality, preservation of identity in conditions of virtualization.
3. Posthuman Future: Ethical Aspects of Biohacking and the Legitimacy of Interfering with Human Biological Nature to Adapt to the Extreme Conditions of Space.
4. Existential Freedom: The Clash of Human Will with Biological Determinism.
The speeches of leading scientists aroused particular interest and lively discourse:
- Andriy ARTEMENKO (Professor, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Kharkiv Academy of Sciences) presented a theoretical model of bioethics of the 21st century.
- Olena POLISHCHUK (Professor of Ivan Franko ZhDU) revealed the conflict between humans and AI technologies from the perspective of aesthetic anthropology.
- Iryna MATSYSHYNA (Professor of Vasyl Stus DonNU) reported on algorithmic identity in the conditions of counter-space.
- Hanna PROKHOROVA (Head of the Department of the V. G. Korolenko KhDNB) highlighted the role of information resistance of the library in the conditions of war.
This meeting became a space for lively communication, exchange of experience and formation of new ideas for further scientific research.
The organizers sincerely thank everyone for their active participation. Despite the war and all the difficulties, scientific life at the university continues — and it is events like this that confirm this.
