On May 27, the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" held another meeting of the Academic Council, which was held in a mixed format with compliance with the security conditions of martial law. The event took place in the new Open Sky conference hall, recently opened in the safe space of the Khai Khai, which, thanks to modern technical equipment and the possibility of large-scale offline and online events, became a symbol of the stability, development and indomitability of the university community in wartime conditions.

During the meeting, members of the Academic Council considered a number of strategically important issues for the development of the University, related to educational activities, science, personnel policy, international cooperation and modernization of educational programs.

Information was heard from the head of the Student Council Maksym Kalashnikov about the interaction of student self-government with the university administration regarding the support of education seekers in solving educational, social and cultural issues and implementing student initiatives.

Particular attention was paid to the training of scientific personnel in the conditions of modern challenges. Hanna Zadnieprovska, head of the postgraduate and doctoral studies department, outlined the current state of graduate and doctoral students' training, existing problematic issues and key directions for improving the system of training young scientists at the university.

In the course of a secret vote, the Academic Council made a decision to award the academic title of professor to Ludmila Kapitanova and Maryna Tatar. The issue of competitive election to the positions of heads and professors of a number of university departments was also considered.

An important decision was the approval of the University's Scientific and Innovative Development Strategy for 2026-2030, which is a derivative of the University's general Development Strategy until 2030 and defines the institutional mechanisms for implementing strategic goals in the field of science, research, innovation, and international scientific integration.

During the meeting, training plans for applicants of all levels of higher education for the 2026 recruitment and updated training plans for previous recruitment years were also approved. Considerable attention was paid to the modernization of educational programs in accordance with the current requirements of the labor market, the development of unmanned technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber security, robotics and digital systems.

The members of the Academic Council also considered the issue of improving the organizational structure of the university, approving new editions of regulations, changes to the Admission Rules in 2026, and the creation of one-time specialized academic councils for the defense of theses of PhD candidates.

Within the framework of the "Miscellaneous" block, the publication of scientific journals, conference collections and monographs was supported, as well as the updated topics of dissertation studies of the awardees were approved.

The regular meeting of the Academic Council once again testified to the consistent work of the KhAI to ensure the stable functioning of the university in the conditions of martial law, the development of scientific potential and the improvement of the educational process in accordance with the modern challenges and needs of the state. Despite the cold, rainy weather and an extremely busy agenda, in the cozy atmosphere of the Open Sky conference hall, the council's work was productive, constructive and coordinated.
