The National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” held a public defense of Oleksandr VASILIEV’s dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The topic of the dissertation research is “Creation of new designs of thrust bearings for vertical-type hydrogenerators with a hydraulic damping system”.
The work developed a new design of a hydrogenerator thrust bearing with a hydraulic damping system. The proposed design allows to reduce the vibration of the hydraulic unit and ensure its operation in accordance with international standards ISO and IEC.
During the study, the vibration state of the existing equipment was analyzed and the necessary calculations were performed to select the optimal design parameters.
A method for testing the strength and reliability of thrust bearing elements was also developed, taking into account various loads and operating modes. The calculations confirmed that the proposed design is capable of operating reliably during the standard service life.
The public defense of Oleksandr VASILIEV's dissertation took place on August 4 in the format of an online conference.
Based on the results of the discussion of the scientific research, the one-time specialized academic council decided to award Oleksandr VASILIEV the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 13 "Mechanical Engineering" in the specialty 134 "Aviation and Rocket and Space Technology".
