On March 25, a new meeting of KhAI teachers and scientists with the students of the Saltivskyi district of Kharkiv took place.
On this day, two underground schools — lyceums No. 124 and No. 138 — became a space for holding events in the format of the popular science project “Universe of Knowledge”. And the numbers speak for themselves: about 160 high school students in one day of spring vacation.
At lyceum No. 124, schoolchildren got acquainted with a model of an airplane, a car and car engines, worked with quadcopters and VR glasses, studied models of gas turbine engines and parts of bladed machines. A bionic spider robot, a wheeled Mars rover, a robopes, an omni-directional robot and a humanoid robot with conversational artificial intelligence attracted particular attention.
Students also saw an interactive AR painting, a solar panel, a rocket, samples of products made of composite materials, an autonomous headset of mixed and virtual reality, a video demonstration of the work of a neural network and computer vision, a model of a smart home. A banknote counter, a currency detector, a forensic suitcase and a polygraph aroused practical interest.
In Lyceum No. 138, the program had a different focus: here, students worked with a dosimeter and a noise meter, got acquainted with models of gas turbine engines and parts of bladed machines, tested a flight simulator, and investigated aircraft control stands.
High school students also worked with a micrometer and a microscope, got acquainted with models of satellites and missiles, samples of composite materials, a radar model and a EW model. The medical and technical direction was presented by a vascular visualizer, a pulse oximeter and the “Phasegraph” complex. The program was supplemented by a portable printer, educational weapons, linguistic games and educational literature.
An exposition of the KhAI IT College was presented at both locations, which allowed schoolchildren to learn more about modern IT areas of study.
The events were organized by the Department of Education of the Saltivskyi District Administration of the Kharkiv City Council together with the KhAI Preparatory Department in cooperation with all faculties of the university with the assistance of the institution's management.
The "Universe of Knowledge" in Kharkiv continues even underground and proves every day: interest in science, technology and the future is only growing.
