On April 29, a presentation of the popular science project “Universe of Knowledge” from KhAI was held for high school students of Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv.
The meeting with the university’s teachers and scientists took place in the underground school of Lyceum No. 105, where 75 students from the district’s lyceums who study here in the second shift gathered. Despite the early hour, the students arrived in advance — even before the start of classes — to get acquainted with the achievements of KhAI and feel the atmosphere of real science.
The students worked with a sound level meter and dosimeter, got acquainted with personal protective equipment, studied a model airplane, and observed the operation of robotic systems — from programmed cars and a “beetle robot” to a bionic spider robot, a wheeled Mars rover, and a robops. A humanoid robot with talking artificial intelligence, as well as an interactive AR painting, aroused considerable interest.
Space and engineering directions were represented by models of satellites and rockets, samples of rocket engines and products made of composite materials. Students also got acquainted with the theremin, electronic warfare means, spectrum analyzer, Tesla transformer, ultrasonic radar model, microwave generator and “bug” type device.
The medical and technical component was demonstrated by a vascular visualizer, pulse oximeter and “Phasegraph” complex. Practical interest was aroused by a shooting range using electromagnetic energy, a banknote counter, a currency detector, a forensic suitcase, a metal detector, a training weapon and a training polygraph.
A separate part of the program was the “Success” lottery from document experts, which added interactivity and positive emotions to the event.
The event was organized by the Department of Education of the Shevchenkivskyi District Administration of the Kharkiv City Council together with the preparatory department of KhAI in cooperation with all faculties of the university with the assistance of the institution’s management.
"Universe of Knowledge" in Kharkiv brings together schoolchildren who are willing to come earlier to learn more - and proves once again: interest in science, engineering, and technology is only growing today.
