National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" will serve as the base for establishing the North-Eastern Regional Engineering and Scientific Cluster of the All-Ukrainian Program "Engineering Future of Ukraine".
Leading higher education institutions of Kharkiv are joining this strategic cooperation: National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute", National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, and Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport.
Partners also include the North-Eastern Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Center "Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", high-tech industry enterprises, and Saint Volodymyr Charitable Foundation.
The main goal of the Cluster is to unite education, science, and high-tech industry for the development of engineering human capital, support of talented youth, and training of specialists required by the modern economy of Ukraine.
The Cluster model provides for the continuous development of engineering competencies based on the principle:
SCHOOL → UNIVERSITY → ENGINEERING AND SCIENTIFIC CLUSTER → HIGH-TECH INDUSTRY.
Within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to develop STEM education, hold engineering competitions, Olympiads, festivals, and hackathons, create modern engineering laboratories and educational-research centers, expand dual education, organize internships and practical training, as well as support youth scientific projects and engineering startups.
Industrial partners of the Cluster include, among others, JSC "Ukrainian Energy Machines", JSC "Svitlo Shakhtarya", State Research and Production Enterprise "Communar Association", PJSC "Yuzhcable Works", LLC "Progresstech-Ukraine", and Kharkiv State Aircraft Manufacturing Company. They are expected to participate in shaping the practical competencies of future specialists, developing educational programs, organizing internships and practical training, providing mentorship, and facilitating graduate employment.
A special role in the Cluster is assigned to KhAI as the university on whose base it is being established. The University will participate in coordinating the interaction among the region's higher education institutions, facilitate the creation of joint engineering laboratories, and host summer engineering schools.
Priority technological fields include aerospace technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, digital mechanical engineering, electronics, unmanned aerial systems, cybersecurity, defense technologies, advanced structural materials, additive technologies, and smart manufacturing systems.
The establishment of the Cluster is intended to strengthen collaboration among Kharkiv universities, science, and high-tech manufacturing, contributing to the formation of a modern engineering ecosystem in the North-Eastern region of Ukraine.
