The National Defense University of Ukraine hosted the IX International Scientific and Practical Conference “New Horizons in Scientific Research: Providing Troops (Forces) and Applying Geoinformation Systems in the Interests of National Security and Defense”.
Representatives of the National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” also joined the work of the scientific forum.
The conference participants discussed topical issues of providing troops, applying geoinformation systems, and modern scientific approaches to strengthening national security, taking into account the experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
KhAI was represented at the conference by Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Technogenic Safety Tetyana KLOCHKO. She delivered a report “Operational Determination of the Impact of Military Actions on the Quality of Water Resources”, dedicated to assessing the environmental consequences of war and modern methods of environmental monitoring.
The participants’ reports demonstrated that geoinformation and space technologies are today an important tool for assessing the consequences of military actions, monitoring the state of the environment, and protecting natural resources. They allow for rapid access to data needed for decision-making in both defense and environmental security.
In times of war, the environmental burden increases due to the destruction of infrastructure, industrial facilities, and utility networks. That is why research aimed at identifying, monitoring, and minimizing such consequences is an important component of Ukraine's national security.
