IX International Conference "Climate Change: Challenges for Agricultural Education and Science"

Head of the Department of Ecology and Technogenic Safety Viktoriya KRUCHINA, Associate Professor Ihor BERESHKO and Senior Lecturer Valeria KLEEVSKA took part in the 9th International Conference “Climate Change: Challenges for Agrarian Education and Science”. The event brought together scientists and practitioners who are looking for answers to the challenges that are already affecting the agricultural sector today.

For Ukraine, the topic of climate change has another dimension - military.

Full-scale war increases environmental risks: destruction of infrastructure, fires and pollution of territories directly affect the condition of soils, water and food security.

At the same time, climate change is already making itself felt: in recent decades, temperatures in Ukraine have been rising, droughts are intensifying, uneven precipitation and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. In such conditions, the agricultural sector needs new approaches - from a circular economy to the implementation of innovative technologies that allow reducing crop losses and using resources more efficiently.

That is why today the key task of science is not only to record changes, but also to propose solutions.

At the center is environmental sustainability: monitoring meteorological data, using geographic information systems and predicting the consequences of climate change. It is these competencies that are formed in future ecologists at the Department of Ecology and Technogenic Safety of KhAI.
