International ENERGY-SHIELD project

KhAI has long-standing creative and professional ties with the universities of the Scandinavian countries. More than 20 years ago, a successful history of scientific and educational cooperation under the EU TEMPUS program began with KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), the largest technical university in Sweden and Scandinavia. Later, the partnership expanded to universities in Finland and Norway, and joint projects in the field of cyber security, information technology, and engineering education are still being successfully implemented today.

The next step in the development of this direction was the new international project ENERGY-SHIELD ("Educating New Experts for Resilient & Guarded Systems through Secure Hybrid-resilience, Intelligent Management of Critical Infrastructure, and Laboratory Development"), which won support within the Norwegian Nansen EDU program.

The project will be implemented jointly with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), a leading technical university in Norway. The international consortium also included the National Technical University of Ukraine "KPI named after Ihor Sykorskyi", Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko and National University "Odesa Polytechnic".

Scientists from the Department of Cyber Security and Intelligent Information Technologies (503) are participating in the project from the Khai National Academy of Sciences - Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vyacheslav KHARCHENKO, Professor Herman FESENKO, Associate Professor Ihor KLYUSHNIKOV and other specialists, as well as representatives of the Center for Quality of Education, Licensing and Accreditation headed by Associate Professor Eleonora DARMOFAL.

The main areas of work of ENERGY-SHIELD will be research on cyber security of energy systems, management of critical infrastructure using artificial intelligence technologies, development of modern educational programs, preparation of new educational courses and trainings, as well as creation of joint inter-university laboratories.

It is important that the three-year project opens up new opportunities for students and postgraduates of KhAI, will contribute to the development of the educational and research base of the university, strengthening of international academic cooperation and formation of a modern ecosystem of innovations in the field of cyber security and critical infrastructures.
