On December 19–21, 2025, the 15th International Scientific and Technical Conference DEpendable Systems, SERVices and Technologies — DESSERT 2025 was held in Athens, which was traditionally co-organized by the National Aerospace University «Kharkiv Aviation Institute».
KhAI scientists — representatives of the Department of Computer Systems, Networks and Cyber Security — together with colleagues from the Hellenic Army Academy, as well as universities in Greece (University of Thessaly, Lamia), Great Britain (Leeds Beckett University) and Ukraine (Lutsk National Technical University) held the largest conference in Central and Eastern Europe on guaranteed (reliable and safe) computer systems and intelligent information technologies.
The DESSERT conference was launched in 2006 by the department of KhAI. During the last four forums, the co-chairs of the conference are its founder, Professor Vyacheslav Kharchenko, and Professor Nikos Bardis —, head of the Hellenic Army Academy Informatics and Cyber Security Laboratory.
Within DESSERT 2025, 144 reports were presented by scientists from 18 countries on four continents, including 19 reports prepared by scientists, teachers and students of KhAI. The conference program included 9 thematic sections and 6 workshops, two of which were co-organized by representatives of the 503 department.
V. gave a welcome speech at the opening of the conference. at. rector of KhAI, professor Oleksiy Litvinov. He emphasized that this year's theme of DESSERT — Trustworthy and Resilient AI Systems for a Safe and Secure World — is extremely relevant for Khai as a front-line university that demonstrates real infrastructural and human sustainability every day.
During the conference, issues of creating guaranteed systems of artificial intelligence and human-machine interaction, cloud and boundary computing, functional and cyber security, big data, augmented reality, unmanned complexes and cyber-physical systems were actively discussed. Plenary reports by leading scientists and experts from Greece, the USA, Ukraine, France and Germany aroused considerable interest.
Among the best works of scientists, the report of the international team of authors, which included representatives of KhAI (departments 503 and 504), won:
Iryna Vasylieva, Vladimir Lukin, Viktor Makarichev, Andres Ramirez-Jaime, Gonzalo Arce, Krzysztof Okarma — Prerequisites for Lossy Compression of Three-dimensional LiDAR Hyper-Height Datacubes.
In the student-postgraduate category, the report of Dmytro Vasyk, graduate-master's student of the department 503, was recognized as the best:
FSM-Based Model of Reactive Context Control for LLM-Based Human-Machine Interaction.
We sincerely congratulate the representatives of Khai Khai on their international recognition!
Next year, the DESSERT conference turns 20 years old, and the Khai team is rightfully proud of the powerful international scientific community that has formed around this forum. We wish the conference further development, and its participants — new scientific discoveries and creativity of the highest quality.
