On June 10, the Department of Cybersecurity and Intelligent Information Technologies (No. 503) of the National Aerospace University "KhAI" successfully defended the dissertation of graduate student Vladyslav SHCHEGLOV for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in specialty 123 "Computer Engineering".
The topic of the dissertation research — "Models, method and means of an intelligent system for diagnosing industrial equipment using the industrial Internet of Things and digital twins" — is at the intersection of the most modern technologies that ensure the reliability and safety of complex technical systems.
As part of the work, Vladislav developed the architecture of an intelligent diagnostic system based on digital twins. Thanks to local and federated retraining algorithms, such a system is able to effectively detect and prevent hidden equipment failures. Mathematical models, software for assessing the readiness of such systems, and a method for their verification were also created, which ensures high accuracy in assessing the operational reliability of modern IIoT systems.
The scientific results of the study have already been implemented in practice: they are presented in an application for a patent for an invention, implemented in scientific projects and industry, and published in monographs and scientific publications of leading international publishing houses in the USA and Switzerland.
The scientific supervisor of the dissertation was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Olga MOROZOVA. For her, Vladyslav became the first graduate student to successfully defend a dissertation under her scientific supervision.
A one-time specialized academic council, which included five doctors of sciences from Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi, highly appreciated the obtained scientific results, noting their theoretical and practical value for the development of the concepts of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. The members of the council also provided recommendations for the further development of the proposed scientific approaches.
Vladyslav SHCHEGLOV completed his entire educational path at KhAI — from bachelor’s to doctorate in computer engineering. During his studies, he actively participated in the life of the department, combining scientific activity with practical experience in the IT sphere.
We sincerely congratulate Vladyslav and his scientific supervisor on this significant achievement! We wish you new scientific achievements, successful implementation of innovative projects and conquering new professional heights!
