For the first time in the history of Ukraine: June 11 is the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces! Khai congratulates those who create the future of war and protect the Ukrainian Sky!
Today, Ukraine celebrates a new, historic military holiday. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr ZELENSKYY signed Decree No. 485/2026 on the establishment of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, which will now be celebrated annually on June 11.
Ukraine became the first country in the world to create a separate branch of such forces. Our unmanned technologies have changed the nature of modern warfare: in just one year, UAS have struck enemy targets worth almost $40 billion, proving the power of Ukrainian creativity and courage.
This day is of special importance for KhAI. Our university is historically one of the main pioneers of unmanned aviation in Ukraine. The legendary Research Institute of Physical Modeling Problems (RI PMP KhAI) once laid a solid technological foundation for this industry. Today, this mission is continued by a new generation of KhAI's community. Our scientists, employees and graduates develop and implement unique unmanned systems that protect the Ukrainian sky:
Eternal memory to the pilots and engineers of unmanned systems who gave their lives in battle with the fierce enemy. These are our students, teachers and graduates - their names are forever engraved on the KhAI Memorial.
We sincerely congratulate the Khaiovtsi who are currently serving in the unmanned systems units. Special honor and respect to those aviators who, at the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, stood at the origins of the formation of these unique units, applying their knowledge on the battlefield.
