Day of Mourning and Commemoration of the Victims of the War in Ukraine

June 22 — Day of Mourning and Commemoration of War Victims in Ukraine.

85 years ago, on June 22, 1941, one of the most tragic stages of World War II began for Ukraine. The Nazi invasion brought enormous human losses, destruction, and suffering to our land.

A week later, 68 KhAI students voluntarily joined the ranks of the Kharkiv Student Battalion. Young men who had recently sat at student desks and dreamed of heaven took up arms to defend their native land.

In July 1941, in the first battles near Bila Tserkva, the Kharkiv Student Battalion lost up to 70–80% of its personnel. Such was the price of the first weeks of the enemy invasion...

Today we remember all those whose lives were taken by the war, we honor the memory of the students, teachers and graduates of KhAI who stood up to defend the Motherland, and we bow our heads before their feat.

85 years ago. On this day...

We remember.
