This week, Ukraine is talking about ecology and the future of the planet.
On May 12, the Day of Environmental Education was celebrated, and today, May 15, is the International Day for Climate Protection.
The Department of Ecology and Technogenic Safety (106) of KhAI joined these events, becoming a participant in the All-Ukrainian Climate Adaptation Marathon.
The marathon brought together public organizations, educational institutions, scientific institutions, and research centers from all over Ukraine around an important topic: how the climate is changing and what we can do now to adapt to these changes. Among the organizers of the initiative are: “Ukrainian Climate Network”, “Ecodia”, “Ecoclub”, “Network of Ecostations of Ukraine”, “Ekoltava”, and “Plato”.
As part of the marathon, from May 4 to 17, lectures, meetings, and educational events on climate change, environmental challenges, and modern adaptation solutions are being held in various cities of Ukraine.
KhAI also joined this initiative. For schoolchildren, the Department of Ecology and Technogenic Safety held a briefing “Climate Control: How to Prepare for Changes Now”. The participants were told about the consequences of climate change, examples of successful adaptation and why environmental awareness today is no longer just a trend, but a necessity.
It is especially important that the students of the department took an active part in the preparation and holding of the event.
The organizer of the briefing was senior lecturer Valeria KLEEVSKA.
Students Taisiya BIRZUL and Dmytro SHVYDKO prepared meaningful and interesting reports, and engineer Olena MIROSHNYCHENKO held a thematic Kahoot! for the participants, which made the meeting even more interactive.
The climate is changing. And it is the level of awareness, joint decisions and willingness to act that determines what our future will be.
