Winter break is coming to an end for Kharkiv schoolchildren, and with it, a five-day popular science program from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute in the format of the “Universe of Knowledge” project. During this time, more than 300 students from Kharkiv lyceums attended the university's events.
On the last day of the holidays, teachers and scientists from the National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” held a meeting in the underground school of Lyceum No. 153. High school students from four lyceums in the Novobavarsky district of Kharkiv gathered here — a total of 50 students.
The students saw and mastered the operation of a 3D scanner, VR glasses, flying drones, and familiarized themselves with a model car, internal and external combustion engine models, gas turbine engines, and blade machine parts. The 3D projector, Sterling engine model, DJI Tello programmable drones, bionic robots, and humanoid robot with conversational AI aroused considerable interest.
The high school students paid special attention to interactive painting with augmented reality, a laboratory model of a CubeSAT satellite with the functions of a real spacecraft, satellite engines, a rocket model, and composite materials. The shooting range using electromagnetic energy, the bill counter, and the currency detector also aroused practical interest. The program was complemented by a linguistic quiz from philologists and an exhibition from the IT College of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute.
The five-day program “Universe of Knowledge” was implemented thanks to the initiative of the university administration and the organizational efforts of the Department of Education of the Kharkiv City Council, together with the Preparatory Department of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute, in cooperation with all faculties of the university.
