This week, within the framework of the StarFrontier astroclub, a lecture on the topic "Diversity of celestial objects" was held by Sofia DENISHCHENKO, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Astronomy.
Sofia Ivanovna spoke about space objects in the celestial sphere and their varieties, introduced the classification of stellar systems. It turns out that cosmic bodies are included in various associations: stellar, substellar, planetary, combined. Most often, systems are combined, since they contain cosmic bodies of different classes.
Multiple star systems and planetary systems, star clusters and associations, as well as galaxies - all this was considered at the lecture. We learned that planets in the Solar System are divided into hydrogen-helium (H-He), metal-silicate (Me-Si) / silicate-metal (Si-Me), and ice giants. Our planet Earth is a metal-silicate, since it has a solid surface, a metal core rich in iron and nickel, surrounded by a silicate mantle and crust. We learned that our Milky Way galaxy is a spiral galaxy with arms among elliptical, irregular and peculiar with a polar ring.
The most interesting thing is clusters, superclusters and superclusters of galaxies! These systems resemble spider webs, beehives and organs of living beings! This proves to some extent that the Universe is nature!
Our astronomy enthusiasts, inspired by the lecture, are ready to gain new knowledge about the amazing Universe!
The Kharkiv Aviation Institute Astronomy Club StarFrontier operates with the support of the leadership of the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute".
