40 years since the Chernobyl disaster

40 years since the Chernobyl disaster

40 years since the Chernobyl disaster. We remember.

There are words that need no explanation. They sound - and pain, silence and memory immediately echo in them. The Chernobyl disaster. Today marks exactly forty years.

We remember this terrible day. We remember the price of lies. As in April 1986, the screens spoke of "provocations by hostile voices regarding the accident" and "full control over the situation." About "security" that did not exist.

How frightening it is today. It is enough to look at the trenches in the Red Forest near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. At the traces of war where the ground is already poisoned. At the consequences of hitting the sarcophagus. Moreover - now the largest nuclear power plant in Europe - the ZNPP - is also held hostage.

But we remember something else. Not lies, but People.

Those who went into the unknown. Who held the blow when the system was silent. Who saved — not by order, but by the call of the heart.

For KhAI, this is our history. Among the liquidators were our engineers, scientists, graduates. People of aviation training who did the impossible in the epicenter of the disaster.

Today we bow our heads to everyone who was burned by Chernobyl. To those who have gone to eternity, and to those who still carry this pain within themselves.

We remember…
