Directions and Forms of Upbringing:
National-Patriotic Upbringing
National-patriotic upbringing involves the development of historical memory, the cultivation of patriotic feelings, a conscious love for the Motherland, a sense of civic duty, and responsibility for the fate of the Fatherland, as well as a readiness to work for its benefit, protect it, and strengthen its international authority. National-patriotic upbringing is carried out during both academic and extracurricular hours: through lectures—primarily on the history of Ukraine and the history of national culture; mastering the culture of language; becoming acquainted with the national traditions of the Ukrainian people; as well as through the work of clubs, interest groups, the university museum, and the activities of the student press (newspaper and radio); by organizing trips to memorable places, meetings with labor and combat veterans, and veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; and by involving students in the work of public youth organizations, student trade unions, etc.
Intellectual and Spiritual Upbringing
Intellectual and spiritual upbringing includes:
- developing cognitive interest, creative activity, and critical thinking;
- fostering the need to independently acquire knowledge and the readiness to apply knowledge, skills, and abilities in practical activities;
- realizing personal life choices and building a professional career based on abilities, knowledge, skills, and expertise;
- cultivating the ability to form and defend one's own position.
Moral Upbringing
Moral upbringing is the development of high moral qualities and convictions that manifest in ethical standards of behavior in all spheres of life and ensure an active life stance for young people. Moral upbringing is carried out through all lecture courses, including those of the ethical and general humanities cycles, as well as through the work of all services, units, group tutors, and teachers. It is also cultivated by fostering an atmosphere of high standards, adherence to principles, honesty, responsibility, and mutual assistance within student collectives. Furthermore, moral upbringing permeates the entire system of extracurricular work: conducting Open Days; holding solemn initiation ceremonies for first-year students; celebrating significant dates of the university, faculties, and departments; involving students in professional work with prospective applicants; tutor hours; conducting talks and lectures on anti-alcohol and anti-drug topics; organizing evening events and concerts; and through the activities of student self-government bodies.
Legal Upbringing
Legal upbringing is aimed at cultivating legal literacy and culture among student youth, fostering respect for human and civil rights and freedoms, expanding legal knowledge and skills, and applying state laws in practice. It is carried out through lecture courses—primarily legal disciplines—as well as through extracurricular activities: the operation of clubs and seminars, and hosting legal competitions, tournaments, Olympiads, conferences, etc.
Labor Upbringing
Labor upbringing involves forming a creatively active, industrious personality who possesses professional skills, developed business qualities, a sense of responsibility, a respectful attitude toward property, and a readiness for life under market conditions, entrepreneurship, and competition. Labor upbringing is linked to academic activities, participation in scientific groups, conferences, and clubs, studying additional training courses, taking part in professional competitions, business clubs, and Olympiads. It can also be implemented by organizing meetings with alumni and specialists from enterprises and institutions who have achieved success through hard work and knowledge.
Ecological Upbringing
Ecological upbringing is aimed at forming an ecological culture of the individual that regulates relationships between humans and nature, orienting individuals toward the preservation and restoration of nature as the living environment for all living things.
Aesthetic Upbringing
Aesthetic upbringing involves developing aesthetic feelings, tastes, and views, forming an aesthetic attitude toward reality, and boosting the creative activity of student youth. It is realized through lecture courses containing aesthetic knowledge, as well as through the work of clubs and studios, student participation in amateur arts, visits to theaters, exhibitions, and museums, holding meetings in literary-musical and theatrical lounges, meetings with figures of literature and art, intellectual games, the organization of the annual student creativity festival "Student Spring", etc., as well as through the aesthetic design of premises and maintaining cleanliness and order.
Physical Upbringing
Physical upbringing is the promotion of a healthy lifestyle as an integral element of an individual's general culture, counteracting factors that negatively affect the health of the university community, and developing skills for the independent use of physical culture methods and forms during work and leisure. Physical upbringing is implemented during physical education classes, through the activities of the KhAI sports club, the operation of sports sections and clubs, holding athletic competitions, Spartakiads, tournaments, meets, hiking trips, and youth campaigns against smoking, alcoholism, substance abuse, etc.
