Office of the Student Ombudsman

The Student Ombudsperson is a person vested with the authority to represent and protect the rights, fundamental freedoms, and interests of learners studying at the University, regardless of the form of study or membership in various public organizations, including:

- students who are citizens of other states;

- students studying under international academic mobility programs at educational institutions of other countries;

- the University’s PhD students;

- and other learners.

The Student Ombudsperson is entrusted with the following functions:

- monitoring compliance with the lawful rights and interests of learners in the educational process, in ensuring dormitory living conditions, and in interactions with representatives of the University leadership, its administration, and other officials;

- reviewing oral and written appeals from students regarding the observance of their rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests during their studies at the University and residence in University dormitories;

- providing consultations to students on issues within their competence;

- representing students’ interests on matters of academic integrity in the relevant bodies of the University;

- submitting for consideration to governing bodies, heads of structural units of the University, and other University officials issues within their competence;

- developing proposals to improve the University’s regulatory framework and submitting them for consideration by the Academic Council of the University.

The Student Ombudsperson is obliged to:

- prevent violations of the rights and freedoms of University students and promote their restoration;

- ensure accessibility and transparency of their work and the work of their assistants;

- promptly decide on the consideration of submitted applications and take possible measures to restore students’ rights;

- ensure independent, impartial, and confidential consideration of applications;

- inform students of the relevant faculty about the results of the Academic Integrity Commission’s work;

- report annually to the University Student Council on the work carried out during the academic year;
