History of creation
of the Scientific and educational center of microsatellite construction

The training-scientific center of microsatellite construction of the Research Unit of the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute" was created according to the plans and with the support of the TEMPUS-CRIST Grant "Educational Reform in Aerospace Technology of Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine" in 2011.

The purpose of the unit is the organization of scientific research and the educational process in the spheres of space technologies of small spacecraft, improvement and development of new methods of design, testing and operation of micro-pico- and nano-class spacecraft; creation of an effective system of interaction with enterprises of the rocket and space industry, coordination and consulting support for the implementation of the results of scientific research in production and in the training of students and postgraduates, improving the qualifications of specialists, promoting the provision of the educational process with modern technical means, methods and manuals.

The direction of microsatellite construction at Khai began in the late 1990s with cooperation with the Southern Design Bureau in the creation of the MS-1TK microsatellite, which showed the possibility and prospects of the participation of Ukrainian universities in the development of a youth, and in the future, university microsatellite.

The basis for conducting work on the development of a Ukrainian youth microsatellite is the proposal of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, the National Center for Aerospace Education of Youth of Ukraine, and the State Design Bureau "KB "South". It was planned to create a youth microsatellite by the forces of higher educational institutions and youth teams of enterprises working in the aerospace industry on the basis of the existing MS-2-8 microsatellite platform with the introduction of university developments.

This approach makes it possible to create a basic model of the Ukrainian youth microsatellite with the possibility of expanding the structure and composition of the equipment. In the future, the development will provide flight tests directly of the university's microsatellite for working out scientific ideas and hypotheses, new technical solutions, instrument samples, obtaining low-budget access to space images, space radio communication, satellite Internet. The development, based on the project, of new ideas and practical educational and scientific application by students of knowledge and previous scientific and technical developments in the issues of creating space technology, in the issues of launching and operating small space vehicles intended for work in near-Earth orbits with direct access to telemetric and service information
