Research School “Mathematical and Physical Modeling of Power Supply Systems for Spacecraft and Autonomous Objects”
General Characteristics of the Research School
The research school in the field of: “Mathematical and Physical Modeling of Power Supply Systems for Spacecraft and Autonomous Objects” is a leading scientific field in the area of space and terrestrial solar energy. The school was founded in 1985. It subsequently continued its work as part of the Interbranch Scientific and Technical Center of Space Power and Engines. The school's activity is focused on fundamental and applied research of processes in solar energy systems, the development of validation methods for photovoltaic converters, and increasing the service life of electrochemical batteries. It is a branch of the Mykola Bielan research school
Founder of the Research School

Kostiantyn Vasylovych Bezruchko was born on January 15, 1942. Doctor of Technical Sciences (1992), Professor (1994), Deputy Director of the Interbranch Scientific and Technical Center of Space Power and Engines (1995), Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the Field of Science and Technology (2014). Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics. Awarded with badges of honor and industry awards of the space sector of Ukraine.
The Main Scientific Fields of the School Are:
1. Mathematical and physical modeling of modern elements of power supply systems.
2. Development of methods and devices for validation and certification of photovoltaic converters.
3. Development of accelerated testing methodologies and increasing the service life of electrochemical batteries.
4. System modeling of space power plants based on solar arrays and chemical energy storage devices.
5. Modeling of terrestrial solar power systems.
In 1995, K. V. Bezruchko became one of the organizers of the Interbranch Scientific and Technical Center of Space Power and Engines of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Space Agency of Ukraine, where he headed the Space Power Department. The developments of the school, already under the name of the Interbranch Scientific and Technical Center of Space Power and Engines, were backed by an obtained license and a certificate for the right to carry out developments on space topics.
Scientific Achievements and Activity Results
Under the scientific supervision of K. V. Bezruchko, 2 Doctors of Sciences and 10 Candidates of Technical Sciences have been trained. A unique test bench base of the Interbranch Scientific and Technical Center of Space Power and Engines was created, which allowed for increasing the efficiency of satellite and terrestrial solar power plant design.
Main Publications and Scientific Projects of the School
The founder of the research school has published over 130 scientific papers in professional journals. The most significant result is the development of the first Interbranch Program for Testing Solar Arrays and Electrochemical Energy Storage Devices in Ukraine. A large-scale international contract with Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. regarding life cycle testing of lithium-ion batteries has been implemented.
