In order to provide moral and material support to students of professional, specialized pre-higher and higher education who study full-time at the expense of the state or local budget, up to 150 Scholarships of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine named after Hryhoriy Skovoroda are awarded annually, including:
- Up to 40 scholarships - to students of professional education;
- Up to 40 scholarships - to students of professional pre-higher education;
- Up to 70 scholarships - to students of higher education who obtain junior bachelor's, bachelor's, master's degrees.
The Scholarship may be awarded to students who belong to one of the following categories:
- Orphans;
- Children deprived of parental care;
- Persons who, during the period of study, aged 18 to 23, were left without parents (whose parents died/were declared dead, died or went missing);
- Children from a family receiving assistance under the Law of Ukraine “On State Social Assistance to Low-income Families”.
The amount of the Scholarship is 150 percent of the amount of the social scholarship established in accordance with the legislation by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for applicants for professional, professional pre-higher and higher education who are awarded social scholarships of the appropriate category, level of education and age.
The Scholarship is assigned and paid in addition to other scholarships or grants provided by individuals or legal entities (including academic and/or social scholarships assigned by an institution of professional, professional higher or higher education), as well as pensions, state assistance or assistance from the local budget provided in accordance with the law.
