Probably, it was the KVN players of KhAI who, more than anyone else, defined the style of the second generation of the Club's teams. Building upon the "Novosibirsk school," they adapted it for new topics and new requirements of spectacularity, while making many of their own discoveries and rightfully becoming the "KVN classics" of the mid-90s.
It is no coincidence that according to the 1996 audience rating, the KhAI KVN team was recognized as the best over the 10 years since the revival of the television Club. Warm-ups (Rozmynka) played by this team, according to the same polls, were second only to warm-ups with the audience at international meetings. The famous Kharkiv residents are also known for their completely unique and at the same time extraordinarily bright image, composed of "white jackets," "rock and roll," and the recurring characters of the "line-up." In their very first season (1992), the KhAI KVN team reached the semifinals. In 1994, they already played in the finals but lost to the YERMI team. And finally, in 1995, they shared the champion title with the "Squadron of Hussars." However, they met with their rivals more than once: in the game for the 1996 Summer Cup, in two games in Australia (1998), and in the "Tournament of Ten" (2000). Out of these 4 crucial meetings, the Kharkiv team won 3 and tied one.
Representatives of the KhAI team were already part of the second CIS national team (1994), in 1995 the Kharkiv team traveled to the World KVN Festival in Israel with their full roster, and the third CIS national team was formed in 1996 based on this team.
In general, KhAI is the only team whose representatives were included in all KVN national teams from 1994 to 2003, including the "USSR national team." And this is not the team's only record! For example, they played the highest number of television games — 23, and traveled with KVN to more foreign countries than anyone else — 19.
Games abroad were a signature trademark of the KhAI team; some of them ended in a draw, but they suffered absolutely no losses. They played in the USA against the "New Armenians" (1997), in Australia against the "Squadron of Hussars" (1998), and in the UK and USA against the "Children of Lieutenant Schmidt" (1999). There were also simple concert tours, the last of which — a major concert tour to Israel — took place back in 2004. In 1994, the KhAI KVN team organized the Kharkiv City KVN League, which later transformed into the Central Slobozhanska League of the International KVN Union.
Throughout the entire second half of the 90s, the team toured extensively. Today, I. Didenko and G. Tymoshenko host the most popular morning show on Kharkiv TV. V. Ivanov and A. Diachenko work as editors for several KVN leagues. The soundtracks you currently hear in KVN programs on the First Channel were written by the team's musician, A. Kozin. And the team captain, A. Chivurin, has been an editor of the "AMiK" Television Creative Association since 1996. The writing group — Andriy Chivurin, Oleksandr Kushnarenko, Valentyn Ivanov — is the creator of such television blockbusters as the TV series "Soldiers," "Praporshchyk" (The Warrant Officer), "Marine Soul," "33 Square Meters of the OSP Studio," etc. (from the encyclopedia "KVN 45 YEARS").
