Philology is a comprehensive, large-scale humanitarian discipline that explores language, literature, culture, and humanity's textual environment in all their diversity. A modern philologist is not only an expert in grammar or literary texts, but also a specialist in intercultural communication, data analysis, content creation, and translation technologies.

The research and practical activities of graduates are focused on the following objects:

- language and language systems: the functioning of language (or multiple languages) in theoretical and practical, synchronic (contemporary) and diachronic (historical), dialectological, stylistic, sociocultural, and psycholinguistic aspects;

- literature and folklore: oral folk arts, national and world literature, literary movements, poetics, theory, and history of literature;

- texts and discourses: various genre and stylistic varieties of written, oral, and multimedia texts (literary, scientific, journalistic, business, media, advertising, etc.);

- translation and interlingual mediation: written, oral, simultaneous, consecutive, literary, technical, and automated (machine) translation from one language to another;

- communication processes: interpersonal, intercultural, corporate, and mass communication in oral, written, and digital forms.

Learning goals by higher education levels:

First (Bachelor's) level — training specialists capable of solving complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of philology, characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions.

Main focuses of Bachelor's degree training:

- acquisition of fundamental knowledge in the theory and history of language and literature;

- fluency in several foreign languages (as a rule, the primary language and a second/third language);

- mastery of basic practices of translation, editing, and proofreading of texts across various styles and genres;

- development of skills in critical analysis of textual information and organization of successful communication in diverse sociocultural environments.

Second (Master's) level — training highly qualified specialists and researchers capable of solving complex tasks and problems involving research and/or innovation in philology under uncertain requirements and environments.

Main focuses of Master's degree training:

- deep research-oriented analysis of linguistic and literary phenomena, discourse theory, and comparative-historical linguistics;

- development and implementation of innovative methodological, translation, and linguistic projects;

- professional management of communication processes at inter-state and corporate levels;

- teaching and academic-pedagogical activity in higher and professional pre-higher education institutions.

Key competencies of a graduate:

- analytics and text — ability to analyze, interpret, critically evaluate, and construct texts of any complexity, genre, and style;

- translation studies — performing high-quality written and oral translation, localization of software, websites, and media content;

- communication — organizing intercultural dialogue, developing communication strategies for business, media, and public institutions;

- digital philology — applying tools of corpus linguistics, computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, text analysis software, and artificial intelligence;

- research — planning and conducting scientific research, writing academic papers, grant proposals, and analytical reports.

- translation and localization: translator/interpreter, tour guide-interpreter, translation editor, specialist in software, game, and website localization;

- media, publishing, and content: editor, proofreader, content manager, copywriter, SEO writer, journalist, press secretary;

- education and science: lecturer of foreign languages and literature in higher education institutions, colleges, schools, and language centers; research fellow;

- IT and digital sector: computational linguist/linguistic analyst (NLP, AI model training), educational language content developer, communications specialist;

- international and public organizations: international relations specialist, diplomatic consultant, intercultural project manager in NGOs.
