Audit within the Education Quality Management System

Monitoring, Measurement, Analysis, and Evaluation

At the University, in accordance with the annual internal audit program and pursuant to the Regulations “Planning and Conducting Internal Audits,” internal audits are conducted to determine:

a) compliance of the QMS with:

1. the requirements established at the University;

2. the requirements of ISO 9001 and DSTU ISO 9001;

b) the effectiveness of implementation and maintenance.

To assess the effectiveness of the QMS and educational processes, the internal audit was carried out in accordance with the audit program, taking into account the status and importance of the processes and areas subject to audit, as well as the results of previous audits.

The main objectives of the audit in 2018 were to determine:

- within the framework of preparation for accreditation of educational programs, the degree of their compliance with licensing requirements;

- the relevance and completeness of packages of teaching and methodological materials for academic disciplines;

- indicators of the quality of work of academic and teaching staff in the main areas of activity within the “Rating” system and confirmation of the objectivity of the reported information provided;

- the degree of achievement of quality indicators of QMS processes and the management of documented information in the University’s structural units.

According to the results of the internal audit, the number of nonconformities (Table 3) identified in the structural units of the University in 2018 decreased by half compared to the previous year.

During the external supervisory audit, no non-conformities were identified. It was confirmed that the system fully complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and DSTU ISO 9001:2015 standards.

The student achievement rating system is implemented to increase students’ motivation for consistent work during the mastering of course material in order to acquire the relevant competencies both throughout the semester and over the entire period of study.

To improve the quality, organization, and management of the educational process, the University has introduced a student achievement rating system and the electronic journal system Pilot, which allows for continuous monitoring of student attendance and academic performance, as well as the prompt determination of learning outcomes.

The use of this system enhances the quality of educational services at the University and allows students to remotely access necessary information regarding the educational process. Access to update current academic performance is available to the group leader and responsible faculty staff. Certain functions are available to curators. A curator can view the performance of their group throughout the semester and examination sessions. Additionally, the curator can use the messaging system to inform students and parents. Thus, this system allows for obtaining up-to-date information about group performance and timely notification of parents regarding academic arrears, missed classes, etc.

Prevention of Academic Plagiarism

The University has established a system to prevent and detect academic plagiarism in the scholarly works of staff, students, graduate students, and doctoral candidates. The system for preventing and detecting academic plagiarism, described in the Regulation “On Academic Integrity,” consists of the following elements:

a) Code of Academic Integrity for University Staff;

b) Code of Academic Integrity for Students;

c) Procedures and principles for preventing academic plagiarism;

d) Procedures for holding individuals accused of academic plagiarism accountable under disciplinary regulations.

The system for preventing and detecting academic plagiarism is implemented through the service Unplag.com.
