Archive of Events: "Education – Production" Science Forum

On March 28, 2017, the science forum "Education – Production" took place at the sports complex of the National Aerospace University "Kharkiv Aviation Institute".

In the autumn, Kharkiv Aviation Institute hosted guests of the round table "Cooperation of the Business Community and the Sphere of Education." During this event, participants discussed prospects for cooperation between KhAI and Ukrainian industrial enterprises toward forming a highly qualified engineering talent reserve. Following the discussion, round table participants decided to hold an exhibition of achievements of the State Concern "Ukroboronprom" enterprises at KhAI in the spring, involving representatives of the "Mechatronics" innovative regional aerospace cluster and other enterprises, aimed at both high school students and technical college students, as well as university students belonging to the "Mechatronics" cluster.

The "Mechatronics" cluster is an alliance of Ukrainian enterprises and a scientific-educational complex that have long collaborated in creating modern aviation and space systems — all whose work relies on the synergistic integration of mechanics, electronics, and computer technologies. The "Mechatronics" regional aerospace cluster was founded on December 11, 2015.

From early morning, excitement was felt throughout KhAI. Enterprises were preparing to meet visitors and setting up their exhibition equipment, while students and applicants waited for the opportunity to communicate with forum participants. After registration, all enterprise representatives received welcome gifts from KhAI and, accompanied by volunteers, got to work.

This year, the forum was attended by the following organizations: V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, NTU "KhPI", NURE, PJSC "Hartron", O.Ya. Usikov IRE NASU, PJSC "RPE "Radiy", PJSC "FED", SE "KhPZ "FED", PJSC "KhMZ "Svitlo Shakhtarya", ST DDB "Polisvit" branch of SE SPhE "Association Kommunar", PJSC "Dnepropetrovsk Aggregative Plant", SE "ChARZ", JSC "Motor Sich", SE "Plant 410 CA", SE "Antonov", PJSC "Vovchansk Aggregative Plant", SE "Kharkiv Regional Scientific and Production Center for Standardization, Metrology and Certification", PJSC "Turboatom", SE "Malyshev Plant", and KSAMC.

Arriving forum guests were greeted by the KhAI brass band. At 10:00 AM, the official opening of the forum took place in a festive atmosphere.

The Rector of KhAI, Volodymyr Stanislavovych Kryvtsov, gave the opening welcome speech, followed by greetings to the forum participants from:

1. Popov Viktor Vasylovych – Chairman of the Board of PJSC "FED", President of the "Mechatronics" innovative aerospace cluster. In his speech, he highlighted the joint project between PJSC "FED" and KhAI on training personnel without interrupting university studies: "These students differ extraordinarily in their diploma projects not only in the depth of their knowledge, but also in practical specificity, because they are essentially job-ready employees who perform concrete tasks immediately upon employment."

2. Trush Oleksandr Olehovych – Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Education of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration;

3. Kliepikov Volodymyr Borysovych – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of "Automated Electromechanical Systems";

4. Machak Ivan Serhiyovych – February 2017 graduate of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, Machine Science and Robotic Systems, CNC machine operator at PJSC "FED".

After the ceremonial opening, the poster session and networking between employers and forum visitors began. KhAI students and students from other Kharkiv universities were most interested in current job openings presented by all participating enterprises. Visitors could find more than 120 vacant positions waiting for active, educated, and goal-oriented young specialists.

Throughout the day, multimedia presentations were displayed on screen and promotional materials about the enterprises were distributed.

KhAI faculties and representatives of NTU "KhPI", V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and NURE encouraged prospective applicants to enroll, introducing them to the prospects of earning a high-quality engineering education and subsequent employment with Ukrainian industrial giants.

Every year, the geography of cooperation between KhAI and Ukrainian employers expands. Holding such events at KhAI gains new momentum and attracts more supporters, helping strengthen partnerships between KhAI and enterprises in Ukraine and abroad.

A significant portion of the organizational workload for the forum was handled by the Student and Graduate Employment Assistance Department, the Pre-University Education Department, and the Trade Union Committee of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students. All visitors and participants were satisfied with the results, as the main goal of the forum was to popularize engineering professions and provide students and applicants with an opportunity to communicate directly with representatives of Ukrainian industrial giants. Prospective students noted the chance to learn something new, discover new majors for higher education, and expand their future prospects.

The forum clearly demonstrated both the achievements of enterprises and their recruitment needs.

Much work and new accomplishments lie ahead. The organizers are ready to help every student by creating favorable conditions for entering the labor market and fostering a communicative environment that helps applicants, students, and graduates effectively plan and build their careers, while enabling employers to attract and develop valuable talent.

We look forward to new meetings with driven students and employers!
