Academic Integrity Support Group

The Group is a collegial advisory body established to promote compliance with the requirements, rules, and principles of academic integrity among the University’s faculty, research and teaching staff, students, postgraduate students, and doctoral candidates. It also performs organizational, informational, and educational functions to ensure adherence to academic integrity in the educational process and in the University’s research activities.

In its work, the Group is guided by the laws of Ukraine: On Education, On Higher Education, On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities, On Copyright and Related Rights, the University Charter, other normative documents regulating educational and research activities, and the Regulations on the Academic Integrity Support Group.

Main tasks of the Group:

- Overall coordination of compliance with academic integrity and the ethics of academic relations as an element of the internal quality assurance system for educational activities and higher education (academic integrity in education) and research activities (research integrity) at the University;

- Development and improvement of the University’s regulatory and informational framework describing the system and mechanisms promoting academic integrity, mechanisms for preventing and detecting violations, and procedures for reviewing cases of academic misconduct in the University’s educational and research activities;

- Promotion of academic integrity as a fundamental principle of the University’s corporate culture among students, faculty, research and teaching staff, and other categories of employees during educational and research activities and in the performance of their duties;

- Assisting faculty deans, department heads, and leaders of educational units in establishing and maintaining internal procedures to ensure academic integrity in education and research, ensuring that students comply with academic integrity, and achieving the defined learning outcomes;

- Organizing systems and mechanisms for monitoring compliance with academic integrity in the University’s educational and research activities, including when publishing academic texts;

- Promoting the introduction of modern technologies at the University to combat academic misconduct, including effective systems for preventing and detecting academic plagiarism in the work of students and staff;

- Creating effective mechanisms for engaging all participants in the educational process and stakeholders in the University’s educational and research activities (University administration, program guarantors and support groups, employees, students, alumni, employers) in promoting academic integrity in educational and research activities.

Functions of the Group, in accordance with its main tasks, include:

- Conducting promotional and informational-technological activities (trainings, seminars, open lectures, educational modules on academic writing and adherence to academic integrity principles, etc.);

- Ensuring the functioning of an effective University system for ensuring academic integrity, as well as systems for preventing and detecting academic plagiarism in students’ and staff’s educational and research work as part of the University’s academic integrity framework, including:

- at the level of educational programs / departments / faculties / other educational-research and/or scientific units, at the University level;

- for different groups of specialties and educational programs (engineering-mechanical, computer, economic, humanities, etc.);

- for various types of educational and research work (course papers, assignments, qualification works; dissertations, articles, monographs, etc.);

- Monitoring and surveying cases of academic integrity violations by students and staff;

- Publishing periodic open reports on the level of compliance with academic integrity principles and the ethics of academic relations at the University;

- Providing consulting services on fostering a culture of academic integrity in the University’s educational and research units;

- Conducting research on topics related to academic integrity;

- Developing informational materials (guidelines, recommendations, roadmaps, etc.) on academic integrity.
