From KhAI to Canada: the success story of our graduate Sofiia Hladka.
We are proud of ours! A graduate of the Department of Applied Linguistics of KhAI in 2023, Sofia Gladka is conquering educational and professional peaks in Canada.
Sofiia graduated from KhAI with honors and continued her studies in the master's program at the University of Saskatchewan. She recently completed her studies in the Canadian master's program with an excellent result - 91 points out of 100!
Sofiia shared interesting details about studying in Canada. The girl notes that in the Canadian academic tradition, the approach to studying the specialty "Applied Linguistics", even the understanding of this term, is somewhat different from the usual one for Ukrainians. The difference is that the research is aimed primarily at how language acquisition affects the brain and cognitive abilities. In particular, the focus is on language issues and the analysis of their solution: how language affects other processes and how the choice of words or tone affects people or situations.
Today, Sofiia is already putting her knowledge into practice! Since July 2025, she has been working as the coordinator of English language programs at the Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan.
Although Sofia decided to try studying abroad, she warmly remembers her student years at KhAI: “I am very grateful to everyone I studied with. Overall, studying at KhAI gave me an excellent foundation and a lot of important knowledge. I always remember the university only in a positive way, because it opened up a lot of opportunities for me. I have not regretted my choice of KhAI for a minute!”
